Wake Baits?

I was at Cabela's in Rogers Minnesota and picked up a few wake baits. I use top water quite often (whenever the lake is calm enough) but never tried wake baits.

What is the best way to use this type of technique? Do you pop them? Slow, constant retrevial? Any information would be much appreciated. I hope to try them out this weekend.
